ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. PP36,538, issued on March 11, was assigned to J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. (Boring, Ore.).

"Red maple tree named 'WW Warren'" was invented by Keith S. Warren (Gresham, Ore.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new variety of red maple with a unique combination of characteristics, combining a fast growth rate tightly fastigiate branching habit. an extremely narrow to columnar form, small leaves with long acuminate tips that produce a delicate appearance, and bright red fall color."

The patent was filed on May 14, 2024, under Application No. 18/664,176.
