ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,451,738, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Iowa State University Research Foundation Inc. (Ames, Iowa) and UT-Battelle LLC (Oak Ridge, Tenn.).

"Soft magnetic wire/strip array for motor stator and rotor" was invented by Jun Cui (Ames, Iowa), Gaoyuan Ouyang (Ames, Iowa), Iver E. Anderson (Ames, Iowa), Matthew Kramer (Ankeny, Iowa) and Tsarafidy Raminosoa (Gilbert, Iowa).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel architecture for al motor rotor and stator of an electrical motor device as well as other electromagnetic device using soft magnetic wires and/or strips bundled and shaped to provide a desired magnetic flux path."
