ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,410,330, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to INX International Ink Co. (Schaumburg, Ill.).

"Energy curable, heat activated flexographic adhesives for die-less foiling" was invented by Xiang Jun Liu (Schaumburg, Ill.), Jonathan B. Graunke (South Elgin, Ill.), Eli J. Kendra (Schaumburg, Ill.) and Stephen B. Mitchell (Schaumburg, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Adhesive compositions disclosed herein can be applied to substrates using flexo-printing (via, e.g., photopolymer plate); cured to a hardened, tack-free state; and readily be rendered tacky on application of heat and pressure to accurately transfer foil to the substrates.
