ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,504,440, issued on Dec. 23, was assigned to INVENSENSE INC. (San Jose, Calif.).

"Low stress overtravel stop" was invented by Matthew Julian Thompson (Beaverton, Ore.) and Robert Walmsley (Cupertino, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A microelectromechanical system device is described. The microelectromechanical system device can comprise: a proof mass coupled to an anchor via a spring, wherein the proof mass moves in response to an imposition of an external load to the proof mass, and an overtravel stop comprising a first portion and a second portion."

The patent was filed on Nov. 6, 2023, under Application No. 18/502,444.
