ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,324,560, issued on June 10, was assigned to INTUITIVE SURGICAL OPERATIONS INC. (Sunnyvale, Calif.).

"Systems and methods for detecting an orientation of medical instruments" was invented by Jue Lin (Evanston, Ill.), Andrew J. Hazelton (San Carlos, Calif.) and Changmeng Liu (Sunnyvale, Calif.).
