ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,324,058, issued on June 3, was assigned to InterDigital Patent Holdings Inc. (Wilmington, Del.).

"Core network assisted service discovery" was invented by Hongkun Li (Malvern, Pa.), Michael F. Starsinic (Newtown, Pa.), Rocco Di Girolamo (Laval, Canada) and Catalina Mihaela Mladin (Hatboro, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and apparatus are disclosed for integrating NF discovery and application layer service capability discovery in a communications network, such as the 3GPP NR (e.g., 5G) network."

The patent was filed on April 10, 2023, under Application No. 18/132,598.
