US Patent Issued to InterDigital CE Patent Holdings on July 29 for "Processing a point cloud" (French, British Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,375,695, issued on July 29, was assigned to InterDigital CE Patent Holdings SAS (Paris).

"Processing a point cloud" was invented by Julien Ricard (Plouer-sur-Rance, France), Celine Guede (Cesson Sevigne, France) and Joan Llach (London).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "At least one embodiment relates to methods for encoding, signaling and decoding a 3D point cloud with different layers associated with Point Local Reconstruction information and modes. A layer may be associated with its own information and modes or associated metadata may comprise indexes to information or modes encoded or decoded in relation with a different layer."
