ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,339,978, issued on June 24, was assigned to Intel Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.).
"Network interface with data protection" was invented by Kapil Sood (Portland, Ore.) and Patrick Connor (Beaverton, Ore.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A network interface controller (NIC) to interact with virtual environments when they are within a trusted environment protected by a cryptography scheme. The NIC performs encryption of data in accordance with the cryptographic scheme of a target trusted environment prior to copying the data for access by the target trusted environment."
The patent was filed on Feb. 2, 2021, under Application No. 17/165,769.
