ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,367,549, issued on July 22, was assigned to Intel Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.).

"Motion vector refinement for temporally amortized supersampling" was invented by SungYe Kim (Folsom, Calif.) and Tobias Zirr (Karlsruhe, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A residual network is used to predict a set of residual motion vectors that provide additional motion data for portions of the frame for which motion vectors are not provided, such as animated textures, mirrored/reflected objects, and/or moving objects without motion information."
