ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,338,653, issued on June 24, was assigned to Innovate LLC (Houston).

"Lock cores and keys" was invented by Christopher Case (Fishers, Ind.), Douglas McIntyre (Spring, Texas) and Jeffery Brannum (Lapel, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A lock core and key assembly includes a core body, a core plug having a core plug insert-receiving aperture, a core plug insert positioned in the core plug insert-receiving insert, and a key. The core plug insert has a taper and the key has a bow and a shank with a taper that aligns with the taper of the core plug insert."

The patent was filed on Oct. 11, 2024, under Application No. 18/912,733.
