ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,126, issued on March 18, was assigned to Indian Wells Medical Inc. (Lake Forest, Calif.).

"Steerable guidewire and method of use" was invented by Jay A. Lenker (Lake Forest, Calif.), Scott Louis Pool (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Eugene M. Breznock (Winters, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A steerable guidewire. The steerable guidewire is fabricated includes an outer tube, an inner tube, a hub, and a distal articulating region. The steerable guidewire hub can be removed to permit advancement of catheters over its proximal end followed by re-attachment of the hub to permit deflection of the distal end of the steerable guidewire."...
