ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,319,840, issued on June 3, was assigned to IMERTECH SAS (Paris).

"Clear coating compositions" was invented by Navin Patel (Lompoc, Calif.), Ben Newman (Derbyshire, Great Britain), Agnes Fiolet (Toulouse, France), Emmanuel Bertin (Tournefeuille, France) and Jacob Misuraca (Atlanta).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a clear coating composition comprising a perlite, wherein the median particle size, d50, of the perlite is in the range of 0.5 and 25 micro metre, a method of making clear coating compositions and their use in coating an article or substrate."
