ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,391,800, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to IMAM MOHAMMAD IBN SAUD ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia).

"Tetraphenylethene-based polymers for supercapacitors" was invented by Hani Nasser Abdelhamid (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) and Abdelreheem Abdelfatah Saddik (Assiut, Egypt).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A polymer that includes repeating units having a structure which is at least one selected from the group including of formula (1) and formula (2). Further, a method of forming the polymer is described. The polymer is used in a supercapacitor, which includes first and second electrodes and an electrolyte which includes the polymer."
