ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,480,157, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to Illumina Inc. (San Diego).
"Polynucleotide sequencing" was invented by Xiaolin Wu (Cambridge, Great Britain) and Patrick McCauley (Cambridge, Great Britain).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A polynucleotide sequencing method includes a wash step that employs a composition including a polymerase. The composition may also include a plurality of nucleotides. The composition may be configured to prevent the polymerase from incorporating one of the plurality of nucleotides into a copy polynucleotide strand. The composition may be substantially free of Mg2+."
