"System for TIG shielding gas preflow, postflow, and arc starting" was invented by Zachary Joseph Erndt (Waupaca, Wis.) and Al J. DeCoster (Kaukauna, Wis.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A welding-type system for gas tungsten arc welding including control circuitry to control the initiation of a welding arc and the preflow and postflow of inert shielding gas based on sensed voltages."
The patent was filed on Nov. 1, 2019, under Application No. 16/671,944.
