ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,492,084, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to Illinois Tool Works Inc. (Glenview, Ill.).
"Multiple mass flow conveyor system" was invented by Douglas A. Imes (Greer, S.C.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system for controlling a flow of articles includes two or more conveyor sections driven in a feed direction to convey articles. A plurality of sensors, each sensor associated with a conveyor section, count the articles in each lane. An accumulator conveyor is associated with a conveyor section and runs in an opposite direction to permit accumulation."
The patent was filed on Jan. 16, 2024, under Application No. 18/413,849.
