ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,496,672, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Illinois Tool Works Inc. (Glenview, Ill.).
"Pipe machining system for positioning pipe machining apparatus in three-dimensional coordinate system" was invented by Roy C. Coakley (Northlake, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of cutting a pipe includes positioning a positioning apparatus on the pipe, moving the positioning apparatus relative to the pipe to center the positioning apparatus on the pipe, attaching a pipe machining apparatus to the positioning apparatus, and moving the pipe machining apparatus relative to the positioning apparatus and relative to the pipe."
