ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,441,474, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to IHI Corp. (Tokyo).
"Energy recovery device for aircraft" was invented by Naoki Seki (Tokyo), Hirotaka Sugawara (Tokyo), Yasunori Nihei (Tokyo) and Hitoshi Oyori (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An energy recovery device for an aircraft includes: a turbine that is provided between a cabin of the aircraft and an opening for discharging cabin discharge air from the cabin to the outside of the aircraft and is operated by only the cabin discharge air; and a power generator that is driven by the turbine."
The patent was filed on April 15, 2021, under Application No. 17/231,155.
