According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A radio frequency (RF) receives a media broadcast including media items and embedded watermarks. A watermark detection module included in the RF receiver operates in a low-power state, during which the watermark detection module does not attempt to detect the embedded watermarks.
