ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,230,094, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to IGT (Las Vegas).
"Sporting event overlays with accumulating symbols" was invented by Dwayne R. Nelson (Las Vegas) and Cameron A. Filipour (Las Vegas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system which accumulates symbols and determines an award based on an event occurring (or not occurring) on a displayed game field associated with a sporting event interacting with a plurality of symbols overlaid on that displayed game field."
The patent was filed on Feb. 27, 2024, under Application No. 18/589,043.
