US Patent Issued to IFP Energies Nouvelles on Oct. 21 for "Optimized depolymerization process by glycolysis of a polyester comprising polyethylene terephthalte" (French Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,448,495, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to IFP Energies Nouvelles (Rueil-Malmaison, France).

"Optimized depolymerization process by glycolysis of a polyester comprising polyethylene terephthalte" was invented by Olivier Thinon (Rueil-Malmaison, France) and Mayara Azin Gondim Paiva (Lyons, France).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a process of depolymerization of a polyester feedstock comprising PET, which comprises: a) a conditioning step; b) a glycolysis step in the presence of diol; c) a step of separation of the diol, producing at least a gaseous diol effluent, at least a liquid diol effluent and a liquid monomer...
