ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,306,481, issued on May 20, was assigned to HyperLight Corp. (Cambridge, Mass.).
"Diffusion barrier layer in lithium niobate-containing photonic devices" was invented by Roy Meade (Bastrop, Texas), Kevin Luke (Cambridge, Mass.), Mian Zhang (Cambridge, Mass.) and Christian Reimer (Wellesley, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electro-optic device is described. The electro-optic device includes a thin film electro-optic layer including lithium and a lithium barrier structure. The thin film electro-optic layer has a plurality of surfaces. The lithium barrier structure covers at least a portion of the plurality of surfaces."
