ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,478,400, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to HydroCision Inc. (North Billerica, Mass.).
"Selective tissue removal treatment device" was invented by Howard W. Donnelly (Needham, Mass.), Mark Lewis (Haverhill, Mass.) and Lynne Messina (Cambridge, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This disclosure describes techniques and devices for improvement of surgical outcomes for tissue removal surgeries. A surgical instrument with adjustable and selective resection is described. The disclosed devices and methods allow selective tissue removal."
