ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,331,907, issued on June 17, was assigned to Hunter Industries Inc. (San Marcos, Calif.).
"Light fixture with expanding collar" was invented by Jesus Moreno (Chula Vista, Calif.) and Darrin I. Schmuckle (San Marcos, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An in-grade light assembly can include an inner housing assembly. The inner housing assembly can include a body and a collar configured to slidingly engage with the body so as to create an interference fit between the collar and an outer structure. The collar can include a base and a flexible portion. The flexible portion can be one or more fingers."
