ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,253,099, issued on March 18, was assigned to Hunter Fan Co. (Memphis, Tenn.).

"Ceiling fan with canopy mounting assembly" was invented by Charles William Botkin (Cordova, Tenn.), Rickey Thomas Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) and Douglas Troy Mason (Horn Lake, Miss.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A ceiling fan assembly can include a motor for rotating one or more blades to drive a volume of air about a space. The ceiling fan assembly can include a ceiling fan mount with a canopy. The canopy can be received by a mounting bracket to enclose the mounting hardware near the ceiling."
