ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,291,467, issued on May 6, was assigned to Hubbell Inc. (Shelton, Conn.).

"Antimicrobial apparatus for tubing" was invented by Christopher Lane Bailey (Greenville, S.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system including a tube for transferring fluid, a fiber optic cable that extends through an interior of the tube, and a light source configured to project high intensity narrow spectrum light into the fiber optic cable."

The patent was filed on Dec. 29, 2022, under Application No. 18/091,103.
