US Patent Issued to Hubbell on Dec. 9 for "Graded spark gap design for internally gapped surge arrester" (South Carolina Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,494,308, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to Hubbell Inc. (Shelton, Conn.).

"Graded spark gap design for internally gapped surge arrester" was invented by Stephen Franklin Poterala (Aiken, S.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An arrester including a metal oxide varistor (MOV) disc and a spark gap assembly electrically connected in series with the MOV disc. The spark gap assembly includes a spark gap and a frequency-dependent grading capacitor electrically connected in parallel with the spark gap."
