ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,274,257, issued on April 15, was assigned to Hubbell Inc. (Shelton, Conn.).

"Wildlife guard assemblies for line post insulators" was invented by Paul Alfaro Jr. (Orange, Calif.) and Kyle Randy Herman (Lake Forrest, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A wildlife guard assembly is provided that includes two cover sections, a biasing member, and a toggle action lever mechanism. The cover sections are hinged so that the cover sections, when in a closed position, a cavity to capture a line post insulator is defined.
