ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,322,712, issued on June 3, was assigned to Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies LLC (Kansas City, Mo.).
"Split source drain transistor" was invented by Joshua Joseph Trujillo (Overland Park, Kan.) and Payman Zarkesh-Ha (Albuquerque, N.M.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems, methods, circuits, and devices for providing and using transistors in a physically unclonable function (PUF) circuit. The transistors comprise a split source drain configuration including one or more inflection segments that increase process variations between the transistors such that each transistor generates a unique output signal."
