US Patent Issued to Holtec International on May 13 for "Storage system for radioactive nuclear waste with pressure surge protection" (New Jersey, Florida Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,300,399, issued on May 13, was assigned to Holtec International.

"Storage system for radioactive nuclear waste with pressure surge protection" was invented by Krishna P. Singh (Jupiter, Fla.) and John D. Griffiths (Deptford, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A radioactive nuclear waste storage system includes a cask comprising a hermetically sealed internal cavity configured for holding the waste such as spent nuclear fuel submerged in an inventory of water.
