ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,319,686, issued on June 3, was assigned to Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. (Little Falls, N.J.).

"Process for the preparation of tetrahydropyridopyrimidines" was invented by Junli Chen (Shanghai), Weichun Chen (Shanghai) and Lin Wang (Shanghai).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a process for synthesizing a compound of formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which is useful for prophylaxis and treatment of a viral disease in a patient relating to hepatitis B infection or a disease caused by hepatitis B infection."
