ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,334,524, issued on June 17, was assigned to Hilti AG (Schaan, Liechtenstein).
"Safety mechanism for rechargeable battery pack with pouch cells" was invented by Matthias Lepiorz (Chemnitz, Germany), Moses Ender (Buchs, Switzerland) and Robert Stanger (Kaufbeuren, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A rechargeable battery pack having at least one pouch cell, wherein the rechargeable battery pack has at least one electrically conductive filament which surrounds the pouch cell at least in sections in such a way that expansion of the pouch cell causes severing of the filament."
