US Patent Issued to Hillier Nurseries on July 22 for "Mahonia plant named 'HILLMAH'" (British Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. PP36,843, issued on July 22, was assigned to Hillier Nurseries LTD (Great Britain).

"Mahonia plant named 'HILLMAH'" was invented by Alan Postill (North Baddesley, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Mahonia plant named 'HILLMAH' is disclosed, characterized by large, early-blooming yellow flower spikes, followed by blue-black berries. Eye-catching architectural foliage is deep red in spring and summer, turning dark green in summer and autumn. The new variety is a Mahonia, typically produced as an outdoor ornamental plant."
