ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,343,294, issued on July 1, was assigned to Hill-Rom Services Inc. (Batesville, Ind.).
"Port for an internal air distribution system of a patient support surface" was invented by Jnanesha Ramegowda (Batesville, Ind.), Douglas E. Borgman (Batesville, Ind.) and Michael Churilla (Batesville, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A patient support surface includes a blower assembly positioned within the support surface. Ports positioned on the sides of the support surface are configured to be assembled to a cover of the support surface to form a hermetic seal at the periphery of the port. The ports are configured to cause liquids to be conducted...
