ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,295,281, issued on May 13, was assigned to Highway Equipment Co. (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).

"System and method for controlling distribution pattern of centrifugal fertilizer spreaders" was invented by Benjamin Dwayne Boelter (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Nathan Andrew Marks (North Liberty, Iowa).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A spreader with a material divider that is adjustable to change a stream of material which flows in an arbitrary manner to the centrifugal disk(s) to achieve a desired symmetrical or asymmetrical spread pattern."
