ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,393,530, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LP (Spring, Texas).

"System and method for dynamic allocation of reduction engines" was invented by Jonathan P. Beecroft (Bristol, Great Britain) and Edward J. Turner (Bristol Keynsham, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A switch equipped with a reduction engine capable of being dynamically allocated in a network is provided. During operation, the reduction engine can be dynamically armed based on a multicast frame. As a result, the network can facilitate an efficient and scalable environment for high performance computing."
