ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,556,407, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Hewlett-Packard Development Co. LP (Spring, Texas).

"Digital signature" was invented by Stephen D. Panshin (Corvallis, Ore.), Paul S. Everest (Corvallis, Ore.) and Michael Harmon (Vancouver, Wash.).
