ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,192, issued on April 22, was assigned to Hemovent GmbH (Aachen, Germany).

"Gas exchange unit" was invented by Oliver Marseille (Aachen, Germany), Andreas Nobis (Wurselen, Germany), Stefan Notzel (Aachen, Germany) and Felix Hesselmann (Aachen, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Gas exchange unit comprising an inlet that is acentrically slanted, and a method for producing a gas exchange unit."

The patent was filed on Sept. 20, 2018, under Application No. 16/647,930.
