ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,369,590, issued on July 29, was assigned to HELIAE DEVELOPMENT LLC (Gilbert, Ariz.).

"Methods of crop residual management with microalgae compositions" was invented by Karl Wyant (Tempe, Ariz.) and Edgard Jauregui (Casa Grande, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure provides methods of decreasing a crop residue of a plant, enhancing the availability of a nutrient in a crop residue of a plant, increasing soil organic matter (SOM) with a crop residue of a plant, and reducing erosion with a crop residue of a plant by applying a composition comprising a culture of microalgae to the crop residue."
