ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,359,183, issued on July 15, was assigned to Hansa Biopharma AB (Lund, Sweden).

"Cysteine protease" was invented by Christian Kjellman (Lund, Sweden), Sofia Jarnum (Lund, Sweden) and Emma Andersson Nordahl (Lund, Sweden).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a novel polypeptide which displays IgG cysteine protease activity, and in vivo and ex vivo uses thereof.
