ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,253,637, issued on March 18, was assigned to HAMAMATSU PHOTONICS K.K. (Hamamatsu, Japan).

"Scintillator panel and radiation detector" was invented by Yusuke Minami (Hamamatsu, Japan) and Hirotake Osawa (Hamamatsu, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided is a scintillator panel including: a support; a scintillator layer provided on the support, the scintillator layer being composed of a columnar crystal; and a protective film covering at least the scintillator layer. The scintillator layer contains cesium iodide as a base material and cerium as an activator."
