ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,329,586, issued on June 17, was assigned to Gyrus ACMI Inc. (Westborough, Mass.).

"Electrosurgical illuminating instrument" was invented by Theodore C. Blus (Arden Hills, Minn.), Jyue Boon Lim (New Brighton, Minn.) and Kester Julian Batchelor (Mound, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electrosurgical instrument includes a light source, a first conductor, a second conductor, an insulation material positioned between the first conductor and the second conductor, and a light pipe that carries light from the light source to the insulation material."

The patent was filed on Sept. 8, 2021, under Application No. 17/447,093.
