ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,312,124, issued on May 27, was assigned to Gridesic Holdings Ltd. (Hong Kong).

"Structural element" was invented by Tristan Melland (Cape Town, South Africa).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A structural element (10) for forming a panel, with an upper plane (12) and lower plane (14) which are parallel and deformed along their plane at intervals by pods (16) which extrude toward the opposing plane with their internal faces mating to one another."

The patent was filed on April 14, 2022, under Application No. 17/720,480.
