ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,536,134, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to Google LLC (Mountain View, Calif.).

"File systems with global and local naming" was invented by Shahar Frank (Ramat Hasharon, Ill.) and Amos Ben-Ari (Yokneam Hamoshava, Israel).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for data storage includes specifying a plurality of File Systems (FSs) for use by multiple clients, including assigning to the FSs both respective global identifiers and respective client-specific names. The plurality of FSs is managed using the global identifiers, and files are stored for the clients in the FSs using the client-specific names."
