ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,332,120, issued on June 17, was assigned to Goodrich Corp. (Charlotte, N.C.).

"Non-uniformity correction for focal plane arrays" was invented by David Eric Berman Lees (Lexington, Mass.) and Richard Norris Lane (Westford, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method includes imaging a first graybody with a focal plane array (FPA), wherein the first graybody has a first emissivity, and imaging a second graybody having a lower emissivity than the first graybody. The method includes using data captured while imaging the first and second graybodies to perform non-uniformity correction (NUC) of the FPA."
