ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,397,907, issued on Aug. 26, was assigned to GOODRICH Corp. (Charlotte, N.C.).

"High temperature oxidation protection for composites" was invented by Steven A. Poteet (Lake Forest, Calif.), Gavin Charles Richards (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Zachary Cohen (West Hartford, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An oxidation protection system disposed on a substrate is provided, which may comprise a boron layer comprising a boron compound disposed on the substrate; a silicon layer comprising a silicon compound disposed on the boron layer; and at least one sealing layer comprising monoaluminum phosphate and phosphoric acid disposed on the silicon l...
