ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,332,992, issued on June 17, was assigned to GM Global Technology Operations LLC (Detroit).

"Controlling electric vehicle charging security system" was invented by Aaron Adler (Rochester Hills, Mich.), Malek Jaradi (Troy, Mich.) and Matthew Neely (Rochester, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and system for controlling charging security systems to enable sharing of charging stations, such as by allowing vehicle owners to use their cell phone or other device to request disarming or otherwise disabling a charging security system so that a corresponding charging station can be shared with another vehicle."
