US Patent Issued to GLYCOM on Sept. 30 for "HMO production" (Danish Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,428,657, issued on Sept. 30, was assigned to GLYCOM A/S (Horsholm, Denmark).

"HMO production" was invented by Margit Pedersen (Roskilde, Denmark) and Katrine Bych Kampmann (Valby, Denmark).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to the field of recombinant production of biological molecules in host cells. More particularly it relates to a method for recombinant production of human milk oligosaccharides (HMO) using a genetically modified cell expressing a protein of the major facilitator superfamily (MFS)."

The patent was filed on Jan. 22, 2021, under Application No. 17/759,273.
