ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,453,561, issued on Oct. 28, was assigned to Globus Medical Inc. (Audubon, Pa.).
"Rotary oscillating surgical tool" was invented by Peter L. Bono (Bingham Farms, Mich.), James D. Lark (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and John S. Scales (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A surgical tool with a housing, and a cutter support shaft operably connected to a motor to effect rotation of the shaft with a drive transmission configured between the motor and the shaft to effect oscillating rotary movement of the shaft and cutter is disclosed."
The patent was filed on Dec. 22, 2023, under Application No. 18/393,819.
