ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,446,911, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Globus Medical Inc. (Audubon, Pa.).
"Rotary oscillating/reciprocating surgical tool" was invented by Peter L Bono (Bingham Farms, Mich.), James D. Lark (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and John S. Scales (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A surgical tool that has a pair of transmissions coupled to one another to effect driving of a cutting tool in both an oscillating manner and a reciprocating manner. The transmissions are driven by a motor coupled to one of the transmissions."
